Bayonne Energy Center, EIA plant 56964, is a 644 MW dual-fuel, simple-cycle natural-gas-fired peaking facility located in Bayonne, Hudson County, New Jersey at 401 Hook Road. The facility consists of ten aero-derivative combustion-turbine units: eight units rated at 64 MW each, commissioned in June 2012; and two expansion units rated at 66 MW each, commissioned in May 2018. The units are equipped with selective catalytic reduction (SCR) and wet-low-emissions (WLE) controls. The facility supplies electricity, capacity, and ancillary services to New York City through a dedicated 6.75-mile, 345 kV submarine and underground cable connecting to Consolidated Edison's Gowanus substation in Brooklyn, and participates in NYISO Zone J. The plant can start from cold shutdown to full load in approximately 10 minutes, supporting grid reliability and renewable integration. Bayonne Energy Center, LLC owns and operates the facility. TigerGenCo manages the asset through its power-asset management platform.
