Bethlehem Energy Center is an operating natural-gas-fired combined-cycle electric generating facility located in Glenmont, Albany County, New York, on the west bank of the Hudson River approximately three miles south of Albany. The plant entered commercial service in July 2005 and replaced the predecessor Albany Steam Station on the same site. GB II New York LLC, an indirect subsidiary of Alpha Generation, LLC, owns and operates the facility. The plant is interconnected with the New York Independent System Operator (NYISO) grid at 115 kV. Its configuration consists of three GE 7FA combustion-turbine generators, three Nooter/Eriksen heat-recovery steam generators, and one GE D11 steam-turbine generator, yielding four generating turbine-generator units with reported nameplate capacity of 817 MW summer rating. The facility has an 83-acre site and uses natural gas from Dominion Transmission and Tennessee Gas Pipeline, with Hudson River water for its hybrid wet/dry cooling system. The plant participates in NYISO wholesale markets as a mid-merit merchant generator and has been subject to an interconnection uprate request.
