Big Cajun 1 is a 492.8 MW natural gas steam turbine, natural gas fired combustion turbine plant in Pointe Coupee County. Big Cajun I is a natural gas-fired power station at Jarreau in Pointe Coupee Parish, Louisiana, serving Louisiana electric cooperatives alongside the Big Cajun II plant. NRG's Louisiana Generating owned it until Cleco acquired the plants in a $1 billion deal approved in 2019. Cleco agreed in 2023 to sell its Cleco Cajun generation business to Atlas Capital Resources IV affiliates, and Atlas lists Big Cajun I within its Pelican Power company.
