## Reviewed overview

Black Dog is a gas-fired Xcel Energy station in Burnsville, Minnesota, on the Minnesota River. It entered operation in the 1950s as a coal plant. Units 1 and 2 were replaced with combined-cycle Unit 5 between 2000 and 2002, coal Units 3 and 4 were retired in 2015, and Unit 6, a 215 MW simple-cycle GE 7FA.05 peaker, completed the conversion from coal to gas.
