## Reviewed overview

Cunningham Station is Xcel Energy's natural gas plant west of Hobbs in Lea County, New Mexico, part of the Cunningham-Maddox Generating Complex developed in the 1950s and 1960s. Unit 2, built in 1965, is being upgraded to run until 2027. Cunningham 1 Solar, a 72 MW solar facility with a 36 MW battery, entered service on April 1, 2026, and a 196 MW Cunningham 2 Solar is scheduled for April 2027 to replace Unit 2.
