Dworshak is a 465 MW conventional hydroelectric power plant with three generating units in Clearwater County, Idaho. The plant sits inside Dworshak Dam on the North Fork of the Clearwater River, about four miles northwest of Orofino. Completed in 1973 and standing 717 feet tall, Dworshak is the third-tallest dam in the United States and the tallest straight-axis concrete dam in the Western Hemisphere. It is owned and operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' Walla Walla District, part of the Corps' Northwestern Division. The Bonneville Power Administration markets the plant's output wholesale as one of the federal hydro projects making up the Federal Columbia River Power System. All three units, brought online in 1974-1975, remain in commercial operation with no plant-wide retirement scheduled.
