Wisconsin Power and Light Company - Sheboygan County - MISO

Edgewater Generating Station is a coal-fired power plant on the shore of Lake Michigan in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, owned and operated by Wisconsin Power & Light Co, a subsidiary of Alliant Energy. The plant's only remaining generator, Unit 5, is a 413.7 MW (402 MW net summer) steam unit that entered service in 1985; four earlier units were retired between 2008 and 2018. Alliant announced in 2020 that it would retire the whole plant by the end of 2022, later pushed that date to mid-2025, then in May 2024 said it would instead convert Unit 5 to burn natural gas rather than shut it down. Alliant bought out a former 25% co-ownership stake held by We Energies in 2011, leaving WPL as sole owner. The plant sells into the MISO market and settles near the ALTE.EDGG5G5 pricing node adjacent to the site.
