Industrial combined-heat-and-power facility at ExxonMobil's Baytown Refinery in Baytown, Harris County, Texas, approximately 25 miles east of Houston. The plant comprises seven operating generators totaling 209.3 MW nameplate capacity: one 7.5 MW waste-heat steam turbine (ST34, operating since January 1952) and six natural-gas combustion turbines comprising four 27.6 MW units (GT41–GT44, operating since January 1977) and two 45.7 MW units (GT45 operating since June 1988, GT38 operating since August 1989). The facility operates in a topping-cycle cogeneration configuration, generating electricity for the integrated Baytown refining and petrochemical complex while utilizing waste heat for steam production. Excess power is sold into the ERCOT wholesale market.
