## Reviewed overview

Fallbrook Energy Storage is SDG&E’s original 40 MW / 160 MWh lithium-ion battery facility in northern San Diego County. SDG&E announced that it began commercial operation in May 2023; the August 2026 EIA inventory lists plant 61365 as operating. Its four-hour rating belongs to this original facility. The adjacent Fallbrook 2 project has a separate 29.6 MW procurement scope, so the utility’s rounded 70 MW Fallbrook portfolio label should not replace this plant’s 40 MW rating. The facility stores electricity for later dispatch through CAISO energy markets.
