Battery power (MW) and stored energy (MWh) are separate measures. Shared physical-site membership does not establish electrical connectivity, settlement or a common export limit.

## Reviewed overview

Fort Duncan BESS is a standalone merchant battery energy storage facility located in Eagle Pass, Maverick County, Texas, near the U.S.–Mexico border. It comprises 88 utility-scale lithium iron phosphate battery units, each with 2,750 kWh capacity and integrated liquid cooling, distributed across 31.8 acres. The facility has a nameplate capacity of 102.6 MW (EIA listing) and provides 200 MWh of energy storage over a two-hour duration. It interconnects to the ERCOT grid through LCRA Transmission Services Corporation's Sunglow switchyard via a 138-kV gen-tie line and associated step-up and switchyard substations. Fort Duncan BESS reached commercial operation in June 2025 and was acquired by Hunt Energy Network from Recurrent Energy in February 2026. The facility operates on a merchant basis, storing and dispatching electricity in response to ERCOT market demand and providing grid support and reliability services to relieve local congestion and system stress.
