## Reviewed overview

Greater Des Moines Energy Center is a 540 MW natural gas combined-cycle station in Pleasant Hill, Polk County, Iowa, on the former Des Moines Power Station site. MidAmerican Energy Company owns it. Two Siemens Westinghouse W501FD combustion turbines entered commercial operation in May 2003, producing 350 MW, and a Toshiba steam turbine of about 190 MW followed.
