Indeck-Olean Limited Partnership - Cattaraugus County - NYISO

Indeck Olean Energy Center is a 1×1 combined-cycle natural-gas cogeneration plant in Olean, New York, operated by Indeck-Olean Limited Partnership. The facility comprises a GE Frame 6 combustion gas turbine rated at approximately 39.6 MW, a heat-recovery steam generator with duct burner, and a Dresser-Rand steam turbine generator rated at approximately 40 MW. The plant was constructed in 1992–93 and commenced production in 1993, with a rated net generating capacity of 79.9 MW. It was originally designed to provide process steam to the adjacent Dresser-Rand Company, though it currently has no steam host and sells electric power to the grid on a contract basis. Natural gas is the primary fuel; distillate fuel oil serves as backup. The facility is connected to the National Grid transmission system at 115 kV and is interconnected at the Homer Hill substation. As of May 2025, the unit was reclassified as a Behind-the-Meter Net Generation Resource and is no longer subject to NYISO dispatch.
