## Data quality

- The EIA-derived plant record identifies 938.4 MW and nine generators, while a third-party project profile reports 1,055 MW; this directory uses the EIA-derived plant value and unit-level record for the exact EIA plant 54. The 2006 PSC proceeding covered both a proposed 278-MW coal unit and five proposed combustion turbines at the J. K. Smith site. The coal proposal is treated separately from the operating natural-gas plant, and the record does not establish that all five proposed CTs entered service. No project acquisition or station-sale consideration was identified. The February 2004 Calpine transaction is documented as a sale of two GE turbines plus engineering and construction-management services, not a sale of the J K Smith Station. No full retirement or complete repowering of the operating station was disclosed; the 2023 supercore-engine purchase was a reliability and repair-time initiative for Units 9 and 10.
