Jones Generating Station is a natural gas-fueled station southeast of Lubbock, Texas, owned through Southwestern Public Service Company, Xcel Energy's Amarillo-based subsidiary. Two steam-electric units were completed in 1971 and 1974, giving 486 megawatts. Xcel added a roughly 168 MW combustion turbine, Unit 3, which came online in 2011, and proposed a similar Unit 4 for 2013 to meet load growth and respond to the region's wind output.
