Battery power (MW) and stored energy (MWh) are separate measures. Shared physical-site membership does not establish electrical connectivity, settlement or a common export limit.

## Reviewed overview

Maddox is a natural gas plant in the Cunningham-Maddox Generating Complex, west of Hobbs in Lea County, New Mexico, which Xcel Energy owns. Maddox Unit 2 entered service in 1975 under a predecessor company, the New Mexico Electric Service Co. In July 2023 Xcel Energy filed a plan to extend that unit's operations to 2028. The Hobbs-area plants have supported the local economy since the 1950s and 1960s.
