Omaha Public Power District - Douglas County - SPP

North Omaha Station is a five-unit fossil-fuel steam-electric generating station owned and operated by Omaha Public Power District in Omaha, Douglas County, Nebraska. The station was constructed incrementally between 1954 and 1968. Units 1–3 were converted from coal to natural gas and are classified as natural-gas steam-turbine units; Units 4–5 remain coal-fired in the current configuration and are planned for eventual conversion to natural-gas-only fuel. The station is located at 7475 Pershing Drive and uses the Missouri River for cooling and discharge operations. As of December 2025, OPPD's Board authorized continued operation in the existing fuel configuration while establishing planning for future retirement of Units 1–3 and conversion of Units 4–5 to natural gas through a 2026 Integrated System Plan process coordinated with the Southwest Power Pool.
