Pala Energy Storage Yard is SDG&E’s battery site beside Pala Substation in San Diego County. EIA’s August 2026 inventory lists SES2 operating at 1 MW / 2 MWh and the older 0.5 MW SES1 unit retired in December 2021. A separate Eos demonstration at the yard used a 125 kW / 500 kWh zinc-aqueous battery; its project history is separate from the utility generators’ current capacity.
