Erie Boulevard Hydropower, L.P. - Saratoga County - NYISO

Spier Falls is a 47-megawatt conventional hydroelectric plant on the Hudson River in Saratoga County, New York. The dam and powerhouse are owned by Erie Boulevard Hydropower LP, which Federal Energy Regulatory Commission filings show is a subsidiary of Toronto-based Brookfield Renewable Partners. Power from the plant is sold into the New York ISO grid, and Brookfield has said a large share historically has gone to the nearby GlobalFoundries semiconductor complex. In September 2024, a major fire burned for hours in the powerhouse that contains the plant's turbines and generators, but officials said the dam itself was not damaged and no customers in the town of Moreau lost power. The plant continues to operate commercially under Erie Boulevard Hydropower's federal hydro license, with no whole-plant retirement scheduled.
