The Tracy Combined Cycle Power Plant is a 336.1 MW natural-gas-fired combined-cycle generating facility located in unincorporated San Joaquin County near Tracy, California (14950 West Schulte Road). The facility consists of two General Electric Model PG 7121 EA combustion-turbine generators and one shared Alstom steam-turbine generator in a 2×1 configuration. It was created by converting and expanding the original 169 MW simple-cycle Tracy Peaker Plant, which was certified in 2002 and began operation in 2003. The conversion was approved by the California Energy Commission in 2010 and the combined-cycle configuration entered commercial operation on November 1, 2012. The plant interconnects at 115 kV to the PG&E Schulte Switching Station and is operated by MRP San Joaquin Energy LLC under a power purchase agreement with Pacific Gas and Electric Company. The facility serves as an independent power producer and exempt wholesale generator within CAISO and is recognized for reliable, flexible cycling ability and competitive start costs.
