Privacy Policy
Last updated July 28, 2026
Ask the Grid is operated by Parisi Labs Inc(“we”, “us”). This policy explains what we collect when you use askthegrid.com, how we use it, and the choices you have. Browsing the public grid does not require an account.
Information we collect
- Account. When you sign in, your email address — and your name if you continue with Google.
- Your questions. The prompts you send to the agent and the results returned, so we can run and improve the service.
- Connected AI clients. When you connect a compatible client through the Model Context Protocol (MCP), we store the client identity, approved OAuth scopes and market access, grant status, and security audit records. We process the tool inputs that client sends and the results Ask the Grid returns.
- Alerts and account actions. We store alert rules, delivery preferences, state changes, and related activity when you or an authorized client creates or manages them. We also record reviewed asset-hydration requests and MCP connection revocations made through authorized tools.
- Assessment requests. High-level asset, site, company, and decision context you submit when requesting a report, plus bounded campaign and referral attribution. Sensitive telemetry, bills, settlements, and agreements are not requested through the public form; do not submit them there.
- Usage & device. Pages viewed, features used, IP address, approximate location, browser/device type, and a random anonymous identifier stored in your browser.
How we use it
- Operate, secure, and improve Ask the Grid and the agent.
- Authenticate you and keep you signed in across devices.
- Provide MCP tools to clients you authorize, enforce the scopes you approve, and keep an audit trail of security-sensitive account actions.
- Evaluate alert rules, deliver the notifications you request, and show alert activity in your account.
- Understand which grids and questions operators care about, to prioritize what we build.
- Detect and prevent abuse, and meet legal obligations.
- Send you account-related email, such as your sign-in code.
- Review, prepare, and deliver an assessment you explicitly request.
How we share it
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers that process it on our behalf:
- Google— “Continue with Google” sign-in.
- Resend — delivering sign-in, and assessment receipt emails.
- Slack — internal notifications that help our team review contact and assessment requests.
- PostHog — product analytics.
- Our AI model provider— generating the agent’s answers from your questions.
- Langfuse— monitoring the agent’s quality and reliability.
- Google Cloud — hosting and infrastructure.
- Cloudflare — content delivery, security, and bot protection.
We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights and our users.
Connected AI clients and MCP
Ask the Grid does not receive your password from ChatGPT, Claude, or another compatible client. You sign in directly with Ask the Grid and approve a revocable OAuth grant that lists the access being requested. The client can call only tools covered by that grant and the market access on your account.
Read tools can return public grid data and account-owned resources such as your alerts. Write tools are separately scoped and are limited to explicit Ask the Grid account actions, including creating or managing alerts, requesting reviewed asset hydration when eligible, and revoking an MCP connection. They cannot modify source ISO or power-market data.
The AI client you choose processes the prompts, tool inputs, and tool results that pass through it under that provider’s own terms and privacy policy. Do not send secrets or personal information that a tool does not need.
Grid data
The electricity-grid information in the app — demand, generation, prices, transmission, and the like — comes from public ISO feeds and other public sources. It is operational data about the power system, not personal information about you.
Retention
We keep account information for as long as your account is active. You can ask us to delete your account and associated data at any time by emailing legal@parisi-labs.com.
Revoking an MCP grant stops future use of that connection. We may retain security audit records, alert history, and other records for a limited period where reasonably necessary to operate, secure, and comply with legal obligations for the service.
Your choices
You can browse without an account, request access to or deletion of your data, and unsubscribe from non-essential email. To exercise any of these, contact legal@parisi-labs.com.
You can review and revoke connected MCP clients from Settings or with an authorized account-management tool. You can pause or archive alert rules and mark alert activity as viewed from the Alerts page.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children
Ask the Grid is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
International users
We are based in the United States and process information there. By using the service you understand your information may be processed in the U.S.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time, and will revise the “last updated” date above when we do.
