Connect AI clients to Ask the Grid with MCP
Give ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, Codex, and other compatible clients a signed-in, market-scoped route into Ask the Grid data and asset intelligence.
Ask the Grid now provides a separate Model Context Protocol resource for ERCOT, CAISO, NYISO, and PJM. Choose a market, add its Streamable HTTP endpoint to a compatible client, and authorize the connection with your Ask the Grid account. The resource URL and OAuth audience keep every tool call inside the selected ISO.
Connected clients can discover cataloged datasets, inspect their schemas and query contracts, run bounded read-only SQL, search physical grid assets, read current grid status, and retrieve published asset profiles. The same source, coverage, freshness, and query cautions shown in the Data Catalog remain attached to the agent workflow.
Enterprise connections can also retrieve reviewed asset intelligence, request hydration for an existing asset, and follow the request status. Hydration uses a separate approval scope and only queues an idempotent, reviewed request; it does not run or publish research inline.
Authorization uses OAuth 2.1 with PKCE through Ask the Grid's standard sign-in and consent screens. Tokens are short-lived, refresh tokens rotate, and approved clients can be revoked from your account.
