West–Houston faces another delivery test at a $26 late premium
ERCOT daily briefing

Bottom line
West–Houston remains the desk focus: yesterday’s $23/MWh evening premium realized just $5/MWh, yet tonight prices a wider late gap while the overall late curve stays flat.
West–Houston realized a $5/MWh premium from 5 PM until 8 PM CST Nov. 6 versus $23/MWh cleared, weakening the scale—not the direction—of West leadership.
Tonight’s West–Houston clearance widens to $26/MWh from 8 PM until 11 PM Nov. 7, versus $16/MWh for the same hours yesterday; the broad late curve is little changed.
Metis 1 Preview’s 6:55 AM middle forecast puts Hub Average at $50/MWh from 8 PM until 11 PM Nov. 7 versus $62/MWh cleared, leaving a competing risk of another broad late shortfall.
West–Houston’s realized premium averaging below $26/MWh from 8 PM until 11 PM Nov. 7, with Hub Average averaging at least $62/MWh, would shift the focus to regional underperformance rather than broad weakness.

West’s larger shortfall drove yesterday’s compression. From 5 PM until 8 PM Nov. 6, West averaged $59.73/MWh against $80.92/MWh day-ahead; Houston averaged $55.01/MWh against $57.80/MWh. Every regional hub undershot its clearance in that window, so the result combined weaker-than-priced West leadership with broader evening underdelivery.
Today’s late repricing has two legs. From 8 PM until 11 PM Nov. 7, West clears at $78.73/MWh versus $69.97/MWh for the same hours yesterday, while Houston slips to $52.41/MWh from $54.17/MWh. Hub Average barely moves, to $61.74/MWh from $61.43/MWh. The earlier 5 PM-until-8 PM cleared West–Houston premium is also intact at $23.47/MWh.
The model’s range is wide: for the hour beginning 8 PM Nov. 7, its averaged interval p10/p90 values are $39.06/$74.65/MWh, spanning the $65.46/MWh clearance. Broad realized prices remain ordinary despite two consecutive increases: the rolling 24-hour Hub Average mean of $34.04/MWh is below the prior-seven-issue average of $38.39/MWh and near the prior-30-issue average of $34.19/MWh.
