Profile
- Labor contract and 2026 expirations
- Cleveland-Cliffs and the United Steelworkers reached a tentative 53-month labor contract for Mansfield Works effective April 1, 2021, covering approximately 300 USW-represented workers. Chairman and CEO Lourenco Goncalves described Mansfield as one of the company's several EAF steel mills. The 2025 annual report says labor agreements covering union workers at Mansfield steelmaking operations expire in 2026, and that the outcomes of those negotiations are uncertain. - 2025 idling program
- Between March and May 2025 Cleveland-Cliffs decided to fully or partially idle six facilities to streamline operations, saving an estimated $300 million a year. The changes included the Minorca mine (fully idled), the Hibbing Taconite mine (partially idled), the Dearborn blast furnace, BOF steel shop and continuous casting facilities, the Steelton rail facility and Conshohocken plate finishing facility, and the Riverdale strip mill. The company said the idles were not expected to affect flat-rolled steel output. Mansfield is not among the facilities named in that program.
