Frontera Energy Center
Frontera Energy Center is a three-generator natural-gas combined-cycle facility in Mission, Texas, near the U.S.-Mexico border. EIA's May 2026 inventory reports 529 MW nameplate, 535 MW net summer, and 559 MW net winter capability. Two combustion-turbine records entered service in June and July 1999, and the steam-turbine record entered service in May 2000. In May 2026, funds managed by Strategic Value Partners acquired a majority interest in New Frontera Holdings, the facility owner; the plant operates as a merchant generator in ERCOT's South Zone.
