Overview

Each grid cell and valid time carries air temperature, wind vectors, radiation, precipitation, pressure, and related fields from NOAA's High-Resolution Rapid Refresh model. Modeled line ratings sample this grid along each mapped route, keep the forecast issue time, and apply only lead times that pass the public validation gate; this is forecast evidence, not a measurement at the conductor.

Query contract

For each valid_time and grid cell, select the latest issue_time that was available before the analysis cutoff; preserve older issue times only for explicit forecast-vintage evaluation.

Analysis rules

Resolve one forecast vintage per valid_time, latitude, and longitude before spatial or temporal aggregation.
Convert vector components to wind speed or direction before reporting them; do not average directions as ordinary scalars.
