Carthage Power Plant is a 62.9 MW natural-gas-fired combined-cycle cogeneration facility in Carthage, Jefferson County, New York. It uses a GE Frame 6 turbine with steam injection for NOx control, a Jeumont Schneider generator set, and a Shin-Nippon steam turbine. The facility began operating in 1991 and can use natural gas, kerosene, or fuel oil as fuel. It was originally developed as a qualifying cogeneration facility serving the James River paper mill with steam and selling electricity to Niagara Mohawk (now National Grid). The plant interconnects at 115 kV and has seasonal DMNC ratings of 55.1 MW in summer and 63.7 MW in winter.
