Danskammer Generating Station is a four-unit fossil-fueled steam-turbine generating facility located at 994 River Road on the west shore of the Hudson River in the Town of Newburgh, Orange County, New York. The facility has approximately 532 MW of nameplate capacity (boiler-rated capacity totals 500 MW). All units can burn natural gas; Units 1 and 2 also have fuel-oil capability. The facility was built in stages by Central Hudson Gas & Electric and originally operated as a coal-fired plant before being converted to dual-fuel and later natural-gas operation following New York utility deregulation. The plant operates as a peaking and reliability resource within NYISO Zone G.
