Overview

The operations conducted at the La Porte Facility are an Air Separation Unit, a Partial Oxidation unit, a Hydrogen & Carbon Monoxide Production Process and a Distribution Terminal. The three ASUs currently operating produce gaseous and liquid oxygen, gaseous and liquid nitrogen, and crude and pure argon. The HyCO-3 unit produces about 26.5 MMSCFD of carbon monoxide, 50.9 MMSCFD of hydrogen product, and 5 MMSCFD of syngas. The liquid hydrogen plant produces approximately 30 tons per day.

Electricity and grid: Within ERCOT, Air Products LLC operates facilities in Baytown, LaPorte, Midlothian, Mont Belvieu and Pasadena and receives electric service from CenterPoint and Oncor. The facility-specific retail electric provider and ESI ID are provided in a confidential attachment to a 2020 filing. Emergency generators are among the ancillary equipment in the ASU area. The ExTex Power Station was brought on line in 2001 to generate 165 megawatts for the ERCOT wholesale market, on a turbine plant site leased from nearby Air Products and Chemicals.
