Amazon Mattameade Tech Campus Data Center

The Mattameade Tech Campus is an Amazon Data Services data center campus straddling Caroline and Spotsylvania counties, Virginia, near Interstate 95. The federal permit proposal covers 11 two-story data center buildings, and site earthwork and Phase 1 are underway. The applicant describes a minimum of roughly 770 MW of data center capacity by 2027. Rappahannock Electric Cooperative is the electric utility, with Dominion responsible for transmission upgrades. Grid planning records for the Orrock (Matta) substation show a load in excess of 100 MW requested for December 2026 and a 300 MW summer load projected for 2031.
