AWS Birchwood Tech Campus
Proposed
The AWS Birchwood Tech Campus is a planned Amazon Web Services data center campus on the former Birchwood Power Facility, a coal plant, in King George County, Virginia. In September 2026 the county and AWS settled, and the county recognized AWS's vested rights to repurpose the plant property and other industrial-zoned land the company owns. The 2023 concept has three phases with 19 buildings and six substations built with Dominion Energy. A Sierra Club table lists an estimated 2,175 MW of electricity capacity for the campus.
