Profile
- Electricity and grid
- A 2004 environmental impact statement stated that refinery operations require approximately 85 MW of electricity. An earlier 2003 draft stated that all of the electricity used at the refinery, approximately 85 MW, is purchased from the Mid-Columbia power market and transmitted to the refinery by Puget Sound Energy. The 2004 appendix records four separate transmission lines feeding the refinery, two from the Custer Substation, one from the Bellingham Substation and one from the Puget Sound Energy Point Whitehorn Generating Station. A 2021 SEPA record proposes a new MS-4 Main Substation to replace the existing MS-3 Substation, with a new Puget Sound Energy switchyard to feed it.
- Ownership and recent changes
- BP Products North America Inc. assumed ownership and operation of the refinery effective January 1, 2020. A major turnaround at the refinery wrapped up Friday, June 13, 2025, and BP shelved its plans for a green hydrogen plant at Cherry Point in November 2024.
