Charter Steel is a carbon and alloy special bar quality rod, wire and bar producer. EPA permitting information lists an electric arc furnace with 110 TPH capacity, a vacuum tank degasser with 100 TPH capacity and a ladle metallurgy furnace with 110 TPH capacity. A draft Ohio EPA permit would cap production for the emissions unit at 842,100 tons of steel.

- In January 2017 Charter Steel said its new SBQ bar mill represented an investment of $150 million and was expected online in the second half of 2018, and that since 2006 it had invested more than $250 million in new steelmaking assets and technology at the site.
