CPV Valley Energy Center is a 680-MW natural-gas-fired combined-cycle electric generating facility located in Wawayanda, Orange County, New York. The plant uses two Siemens SGT6-5000F gas turbines and one Siemens SST-5000 steam turbine, operating primarily on pipeline natural gas with ultra-low-sulfur distillate oil available as backup fuel. CPV Valley, LLC is the owner and operator; the facility is developed and managed by Competitive Power Ventures. The plant serves the Lower Hudson Valley reliability region and displaces less-efficient generation while supporting grid stability.
