Profile
- Electricity and grid
- Eastman is served via two switchyards, one on the north side of the facility and one on the south side. The South Yard is directly supplied from SWEPCO under its Large Power and Lighting (Transmission) rate. Eastman has a 420 MW cogeneration facility, a natural gas-powered combined cycle power plant producing electricity and process steam. As of March 2026, it has been 20 months since Eastman has taken any grid service through the North Yard, and the North Yard has supplied its own load greater than 98% of the time in the last five years. Eastman's excess power is sold through a long-term contract, day-ahead sales, and real-time sales in the SPP market.
- Permits and recent changes
- Eastman has applied to the TCEQ for renewal of Air Quality Permit Number 30130, which would authorize continued operation of the Chemical Manufacturing Facility at Longview. A company spokesperson said Longview remains under consideration as a potential location for a second U.S. methanolysis facility.
