Linden Cogen Plant
Linden Cogen Plant is a 974.1 MW natural-gas-fired combined-cycle cogeneration facility located in Linden, Union County, New Jersey, approximately 21 km southwest of New York City. The facility comprises six operating combined-cycle units: Linden Units 1–5 (approximately 800 MW) commissioned in May 1992, and Linden Unit 6 (approximately 172–180 MW) commissioned in January 2002. Units 1–5 sell electricity, capacity, and ancillary services into NYISO Zone J; Unit 6 supplies power to the adjacent Phillips 66 Bayway refinery and sells surplus capacity into PJM. and Phillips 66. Unit 6 was modified in 2022–2023 to enable hydrogen-blending capability of up to 40% with natural gas supplied by the Bayway refinery, reducing Unit 6 annual CO₂ emissions by approximately 10%.
