Thacker Pass is a lithium mine and processing project in Humboldt County, Nevada, owned through a joint venture of Lithium Americas (62%) and GM (38%). Phase 1 is under construction and designed for 40,000 tonnes per year of battery-quality lithium carbonate. The feasibility study puts the total operating load at approximately 276 MW across five phases, with approximately 135 MW of on-site generation.
Total operating loads are approximately 59 MW per phase for Phases 1 through 4 and 44 MW for Phase 5, for a total operating load of approximately 276 MW. The total connected load for all five phases is calculated at approximately 422 MW. Total power generation is calculated at approximately 135 MW from five sulfuric acid plants, and total power import for five phases is anticipated to be 166 MW. HEC will provide all grid power for the project. Each phase is forecast to require about 60 aMW of power, of which 25 aMW will be served with co-located resources and 35 aMW with imported power.
