Large load · 16147 US HWY 61, Ste. Genevieve, MO
Mississippi Lime Company's Ste. Genevieve site, at 16147 U.S. Highway 61 in Ste. Genevieve County, Missouri, mines limestone underground and produces calcium oxide, calcium hydroxide and other calcium-based products. The operation is owned by Mississippi Lime Company (MLC), which is in turn owned by HBM Holdings Company. On October 22, 2026, Fortera and MLC announced they had selected the site for Fortera's first commercial CO2-to-cement plant.
Overview
The site conducts underground mining and sizing of limestone and produces calcium oxide, calcium hydroxide and calcium-based products. Fortera and MLC plan to build Fortera's first commercial low-carbon cement plant at the site, using carbon captured from MLC's lime production. The planned plant would produce 300,000 tons of ReAct cement annually. A 2011 expansion announcement said Ste. Genevieve would be capable of producing 275,000 tons per year of hydrated lime.
