Nucor-Yamato Steel is the Nucor and Yamato Kogyo joint venture mill near Blytheville in Mississippi County, Arkansas. It melts scrap in electric arc furnaces and rolls wide-flange beams, piling and other structural shapes, with capacity of more than 2.5 million tons a year. It calls itself the largest structural steel mill in the Western Hemisphere. It sits in a cluster of four Nucor plants in the county, one of the densest concentrations of arc furnace load in MISO's Arkansas footprint. No contracted or metered MW figure for the mill has been published.
Overview
Nucor and Yamato Kogyo formed the joint venture in 1987 to run a mini-mill making wide-flange beams, and the plant opened in the Armorel area in 1988. It now makes wide-flange beams, H-piling, sheet piling, standard I-beams and channels, with more than 2.5 million tons a year of capacity and more than 800 employees.

- Quench and self-tempering on Mill 2
- In 2015 Nucor announced a $75 million quench and self-tempering process for the 1.4 million tons of Mill 2 rolling capacity, to be commissioned in the second half of 2016. It lets the mill make ASTM A913 Grade 65 and 70 high-strength sections.

- Mississippi County is served by both Entergy Arkansas and the member-owned Mississippi County Electric Cooperative, and the county's development office quotes industrial power rates of 4 to 6 cents per kWh. Nucor runs three other plants in the area making sheet, thin-cast sheet and pipe. Big River Steel sits nearby on land once owned by Entergy Arkansas. The serving utility for Nucor-Yamato itself is not stated in these sources.
