Profile
- Electricity and grid
- A 2025 Texas commission filing says the new Pompano station is being constructed by AEP Texas to serve a new 650-megawatt load proposed by Rio Grande LNG, LLC. An earlier AEP Texas project was described as able to provide 300 MW of service before further transmission projects are required. The FERC environmental review describes a new 138-kilovolt power line built and operated by AEP that would be approximately 8 miles in length.
- Onsite equipment
- The refrigerant compressors are driven by natural gas-fired combustion turbines to cool and liquefy gas. A 2015 notice described a 600-megawatt electrical power generation station. Back-up power would come from six 2,725-kilowatt diesel generators used only in emergencies.
