Profile
- Electricity and grid
- SRS purchased 220,352 MWH of electrical energy and generated 83,257 MWH of renewable electrical energy, for a total consumption of 303,609 MWH in FY2020. DOE-SR owns a 115-kV electricity transmission grid that provides electrical power to facilities sitewide, with infrastructure maintained by Dominion Energy under a contract with DOE-SR. The largest of five biomass plants can generate up to 20 megawatts of electricity, meeting approximately 30% of the site's electrical needs. A proposed Amentum project includes a 1-gigawatt data center and approximately 2 gigawatts of on-site energy generation.
