Large load · 1000 Carolina Core Pkwy, Siler City, NC 27344, Siler City, NC
The Wolfspeed John Palmour Manufacturing Center is a silicon carbide materials factory at 1000 Carolina Core Parkway in Siler City, Chatham County, North Carolina, on approximately 445 acres. Wolfspeed's air permit application cites the large power demand of the project and proposes eleven diesel emergency generators for power outages. The Chatham-Siler City site lists an electric network of 150MW with a path to 300MW by 2030, supplied by Duke Energy or Randolph Electric.
Overview
The JP will primarily produce 200mm silicon carbide wafers and represents a total investment of $5 billion; Wolfspeed topped out the facility on March 26, 2024. Wolfspeed reported that production readiness was attained at the Siler City facility in late fiscal 2025.
Profile
