Forecasting
Read observed, day-ahead, and Metiscast model series; understand the time split; and compare historical forecasts with what settled.
Read forecast charts

Observed, day-ahead, and model series
Forecast-capable charts keep realized values beside the available forward-looking sources. The legend names each series, and the line treatment separates observed data from forecasts.
Know where the future begins
A visible time split marks the boundary between realized history and the forward horizon. The current-time marker stays pinned to the realized series instead of appearing twice.
Inspect and zoom
Hover for the timestamp and value, use the legend to show or hide a source, and drag horizontally across a chart to zoom into a smaller interval.
Compare a historical forecast
See what the model knew then
When a forecast model is available to your account, move the map timeline into the past to load the forecast vintage available at that moment. Ask the Grid keeps that original run intact and places the prices that later settled beside it.
- 1Open an ERCOT price node or a forecast-capable Radar chart.
- 2Move the timeline back to the forecast issue time you want to review.
- 3Compare the historical forecast with the realized prices that followed.
- 4Reset to live to return to the current forecast run.
The historical view does not blend later information into the original forecast.
Open model details
Use the model details control to review the source, issue time, horizon, refresh schedule, uncertainty, inputs, and methodology available for that forecast.
Metiscast preview

Turn Metiscast forecasts on or off
Eligible signed-in users can control the Metiscast overlay from Settings → Experiments. Turning it off removes the model forecast series while keeping observed and market data available.
- 1Open Account → Settings.
- 2Choose Experiments.
- 3Switch Metiscast forecasts on or off.
Limited preview availability
Metiscast access is centrally controlled during the preview, so the switch may be unavailable for an account. Preview behavior and supported charts can change while the feature is evaluated.
