Interconnection queue: US project explorer

An interconnection queue lists projects requesting a connection to the electricity grid. Explore generation and storage requests from eight US operator publications, filter by technology and status, and open the original project records.

The map covers the listed operator queues. The table shows the selected publication, including projects without a mapped location. Publications are not combined into a national capacity forecast.

How the interconnection queue works

What is an interconnection queue?

A generator or storage developer requests a grid connection from the relevant transmission provider. The interconnection process studies the effects of that project and identifies required facilities or network upgrades. Queue records describe requests at different stages in that process.

Read project status before adding capacity

Each operator publishes its own status labels. Some separate active, completed and withdrawn requests; others name study stages or leave status blank, so the filter lists exactly what the selected publication uses. Proposed MW describes requested capacity; it does not establish that a project has secured all approvals, completed construction or begun operating.

Why queue capacity is not a supply forecast

Projects can change, withdraw or share facilities. Generation and storage can also be included in the same request. Adding the proposed capacity of every record would combine different technologies and stages without showing how much electricity will actually reach the grid.

Compare operator queue publications

Choose an operator to read its publication date and native status labels. Search a project name, queue ID, county or state, then open the detailed operator View. MISO and SPP publish no project names, so search those by queue ID or location. The table includes records without mapped coordinates; the map supplies location context for projects that can be placed.

Questions

What does it mean to be in the interconnection queue?

A project has requested a connection and appears in the transmission provider’s published process. Queue membership alone does not mean the project is built or ready to operate.

Does a queue position guarantee that a project will be built?

No. Studies, agreements, network upgrades, financing and construction can affect the outcome. Use the operator’s status and source documents to assess the specific request.

Does this include every US interconnection queue?

This explorer includes the eight operator publications in the selector. Utility and distribution queues outside those publications are not included.

Can I search for battery or solar interconnection projects?

Yes. Choose an operator and technology, then refine by published status or project name, queue ID, county or state. Filters apply to the full selected publication before pagination.
