Bayswater Peaking Facility LLC owns and operates a 60.5 MW natural-gas-fired simple-cycle combustion-turbine peaking facility located at 14-25 Bay 24th Street in Far Rockaway, Queens County, New York. The facility entered commercial operation on June 19, 2002, and comprises one generator with two Pratt & Whitney FT8 turbines serving a single generator. The facility was developed to relieve the Far Rockaway load pocket, a transmission-constrained area on Long Island. Following a 2019 acquisition by Hull Street Energy (through MPH Rockaway Peakers, LLC), the facility remains in operation under proposed 10-year capacity purchase arrangements with LIPA.
