Cleco Power LLC - Rapides County - MISO
Brame Energy Center, located at 275 Rodemacher Road in Lena, Rapides Parish, Louisiana, is a regulated three-generator thermal power facility with approximately 1,707.3 MW of EIA nameplate capacity. Generator 1 (Nesbitt Unit 1) is a 445.5 MW natural-gas steam turbine commissioned in June 1975 and 100% owned by Cleco Power. Generator 3 (Madison Unit 3) is a 703.8 MW petroleum-coke circulating-fluidized-bed steam turbine commissioned in February 2010, 100% owned by Cleco Power, capable of using petroleum coke, coal, natural gas, and biomass. The facility occupies 6,000 acres and uses Rodemacher Lake as a cooling source. Unit 2 is on a current compliance path to cease coal combustion and convert to natural gas by December 31, 2028, with engineering and EPC work underway. Unit 3 has an announced plan to convert from coal-based to natural-gas/petroleum-coke co-firing operations. All three units currently operate and participate in the MISO electricity market.
