DeCordova Steam Electric Station is a 626.7 MW natural gas fired combustion turbine, batteries plant in Hood County. DeCordova, on a 240-acre site along the Brazos River near Granbury, Texas, is owned by Vistra and run by its subsidiary Luminant. A gas steam plant built in 1975 was replaced in 1990 by four quick-start combustion turbines, which carry seven days of diesel backup. In May 2022 Vistra brought a 260 MW/260 MWh lithium iron phosphate battery online beside them, built by Mortenson with Sungrow equipment, and it was then the largest in Texas. The battery charges overnight and serves ERCOT at peak.
