Limestone
Limestone Generating Station is a two-unit, coal- and lignite-fired steam generating station near Jewett, Texas, wholly owned and operated by NRG Texas Power LLC. Unit 1 entered commercial service in December 1985 and Unit 2 in December 1986. The facility has a nameplate capacity of 1,849.8 MW and is located approximately nine miles north of Jewett in Limestone County. The station historically burned lignite from the adjacent Jewett Mine but also uses subbituminous coal. NRG replaced major equipment on Unit 2 in 2006. The facility operates as baseload generation in the ERCOT market and is interconnected at 345 kV.
