W A Parish is a coal-fired power facility with 4,008.4 MW of EIA-reported nameplate capacity in Fort Bend County, Texas, registered as EIA Plant ID 3470. NRG Texas Power LLC owns and operates the plant, a subsidiary of NRG Energy, Inc. At commissioning, DOE identified Petra Nova at W. A. Parish as the world's largest post-combustion carbon-capture system. The project was designed to capture at least 90% of CO2 from a 240-MW-equivalent slipstream of Unit 8 flue gas and capture approximately 5,200 short tons of CO2 per day at full capacity. Commercial operation began in 1982.
