Air Compliance And Retirement Order

Ohio EPA ordered permanent shutdown of coal-burning activities at emission units B015 and B016 (Miami Fort Units 7 and 8) no later than January 1, 2028.

2021 Ohio EPA Director's Final Findings and Orders identify units and impose shutdown deadline. Order followed owner's announced retirement plan for year-end 2027.

Offsite Ash Landfill And Remediation

Dec 28, 2023

Former Miamiview Road Ash Landfill: separate Miami Fort-associated waste site at 10414 Miamiview Drive, parcel 57002800001, identified as 130-acre property with approximately 70 acres used for ash disposal. Current owner: Duke Energy Miami Fort LLC.

Hamilton County health assessment states landfill accepted fly ash and bottom ash solely from Miami Fort, operated 1983–1997. Not the plant's main station parcel. Groundwater sampling 1983–1987 below drinking-water standards. Site inspection December 28, 2023 reported no violations or nuisance conditions.
