Samuel A. Carlson Electric Generating Station, EIA plant 2682, is a municipally owned and operated thermal generating facility located at 136 Steele Street in Jamestown, Chautauqua County, New York. The station is owned and operated by the Jamestown Board of Public Utilities and serves the NYISO system. The facility comprises natural-gas steam-turbine units and a natural-gas-fired combustion turbine with combined nameplate capacity of approximately 96.3 MW. The station supports both local electric service to the Jamestown franchise territory and grid export through the Dow Street intertie over National Grid lines to NYISO. It is one of the oldest municipally operated power plants in the United States, with origins tracing to 1891 municipal generation and current facilities constructed in 1951.
